Purchase Harman Kardon DPR 2005 7.1 Channel Surround Sound Digital Path Audio/Video Receiver

I've had my DPR 2005 since they were brand new and it has been a great receiver. The only issue I've had was with the unit randomly shutting off after owning it a few years. I could power it back on but it would immediately shut off again. I found that by resetting the processor, per the owners manual - last page, it solves the issue. This has happened to me twice in the last year and the reset trick worked both times. I've seen numerous people complain about this problem and not being able to get it working again. I'm hoping the reset trick will help you like it helped me.Get more detail about Harman Kardon DPR 2005 7.1 Channel Surround Sound Digital Path Audio/Video Receiver.

Shop For Denon AVR-1708 Dolby Digital EX Decoding Receiver

Even though it has good features and good sound, my receiver broke down six months after I bought. The worst thing is that when I took it to repair, I found several others with the same problem. I thought the DENON would be a reliable brand in quality. My mistake. It is not.Get more detail about Denon AVR-1708 Dolby Digital EX Decoding Receiver.

Yamaha HTR-5890 7.1-Channel A/V Surround Receiver (Black) Immediately

I have had this amp for a few years now. My old Sony amp fried, so Best Buy gave me $600 to play with, so I bought the most expensive amp in the store (this one at the time). It pushed my KX-12's, a Sony Center and Polk surrounds all through college.

I now have upgraded to Definitive Technology BP7006 fronts, the Def Tech 2300 Center, and still have the bipolar Fxi3 Polk surrounds, and it sounds incredible. Absolutely NO distortion at +10db volume. I have subwoofer cable hooked in to each front (built in subs in the fronts and center) and the bass is very accurate and clear (no need for a separate subwoofer when you have three built in).

So Dolby True HD and DTS-HD have come out. I have yet to listen to a system with HD sound, but why fix it if it's not broken? Dolby Digital and DTS sound amazing with my current set up.

This quality of an amp with 980 watts is a steal in my opinion. I will use it until it melts in to my sideboard.Get more detail about Yamaha HTR-5890 7.1-Channel A/V Surround Receiver (Black).

Lowest Price Denon AVR-1508 Dolby Digital EX Decoding A/V Receiver

I bought this as an inexpensive centerpiece for a basement AV system. Input, outputs and sound are fine. I almost wish I had paid more for a better designed unit. The manual is terrible. And there are so many "features" I will never use getting in the way of the simple ones I would like to find (for instance how do you get to the bass and treble controls!!!). Also, if you don't wear glasses then get some. The front panel controls are very small.Get more detail about Denon AVR-1508 Dolby Digital EX Decoding A/V Receiver.

Cheap Pioneer VSX-517-K Home Theater Receiver (Black)

It's pretty frustrating when you go through the complicated process of connecting up a home theater receiver and then find that it doesn't work. The right front channel was weak and distorted. This was the first Pioneer product I've bought so I can't say how common it is but as the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. Buy Marantz SR3001 - AV receiver - 7.1 channel

First let me say, the picture shown doesn't actually match what the receiver looks like (it's absolutely gorgeous). Having had a Marantz 2270 for 25 years, I forgot why I bought it, as so much new technology seduces you to buy the newest and mostest. Now my most recent Onkyo (7.5 years) was a fine av 6.1 receiver, but what's lacking with Onkyo, Sony, Yamaha and others is not their quality, it's their ability to make the music sound absolutely natural. Too much effort is wasted on who can have the most features, when the real importance is the heart of any receiver, the amp. This is where the 3001 really shines, with a clean, smooth, effortless amp, and surround features for two channels that really work. It doesn't have the computer stuff, and it isn't rated 130 watts like so many of the others. However, Marantz is never lacking stability with any wattage they build, and I've turned this thing up very loud, with nary a hint of distortion. The final thought is a recommendation for all who have fine speakers, and that's if you want to make them sound better, find a Marantz you can afford and buy it. That's one decision you'll never regret.Get more detail about Marantz SR3001 - AV receiver - 7.1 channel.

Where To Buy Sony STR-DG1000 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver

In 07 I did UP-grade my old 5.1 system to get to the newer level of quality in sound, images, compatibility, connectivity and entertainment. I did start with a 60" 1080p Sony screen, then add a PS3 (for game, DVD, blue-ray, and HDMI). Well my old Technics db-pro receiver did need to get replace to keep-up with the new standart. I didn't have allot more to spend... I did shop for the best for my new set-up without having to spend too many hundreds... I find this receiver for 600$ +free shipping. Back then that was cheap.

What a discovery, not only it's design for the PS3 and my Bravia TV but finally I find an amp with on screen controls, a system intuitive, where my wife can use it and without a dozen of remote controls, and also have a book to know how to switch the component the right way to watch the TV, a DVD or play music. The HDMI, what an improvement, its blow away old multi wires system. With just 4 HDMI wires and power cord now I have the ps3, a HDMI PC the receiver (with tuner, XM, i-pod) and the TV. Noting is missing. I did throw away the VCRs, tape deck, CD player, bobbin deck, turn table even the equalizer... Why, because I finally accept the digital and who want-it? I finally got fed-up with the static, back ground noise, bad wires, bad connection, hummmmm, and should I tell you about the differences from VCR and DVD, digital and analogical... I hope not. I couldn't watch a VCR or listened tapes and vinyl disk anymore. It a shame because I paid way too much back then, when it was the thing to have.

This is what I can call an entertainments center. With the WII, PS3 and the PC/Wi-Fi internet, it's a paradise. No wonder why I can't get my sun off the screen... He is 18 and never goes out. There way too much fun in front of the screen. Thank Sony now I have a geek as a sun ;-)
What I want to bring to your attention after all is: Do some research look at all you can do with this receiver, match it with a good monitor add the others amps for and extra kick on the subs and I guaranty you, you will be impress. Oh ya, I know the new DG1200 with internet radio directly on it and much more but for now I'm happy and I have to finish paying for it... I believe this receiver is cheap and incredible, if you look at how easy to use-it, the versality, the quality and technology, to me it's unbelievable. No you can't compare it to hyper fancy and expensive sound system but to me it's allot more fun and it's either shake me in front of a good movie, captive me with a game, help me to explore new music on the internet, chat, create music, shop at Amazon or just play an old CD. I know I can also lurn English on it too but I'm to bussy having fun...

Go to Sony, read and see the capacity. Be careful, you may have to get a new TV, a PS3, a new set of speakers add more amps with direct sub and some "Buttkicker" under the sofa. Then you will save money because, you to, will not want to go out, you will have too much entertainment at home... Any way you won't have money to go out anyway, so there.Get more detail about Sony STR-DG1000 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver.

Shop For NAD - M3 - Master Series - Integrated Amplifier

We've owned a NAD M3 for the past 4 months. The bottom line: the M3 is highly musical with outstanding definition--the sound is crisp, clean and slightly warm--really ideal for long term listening. My wife and I noticed a truly dramatic improvement in the quality of sound over the Carver separates that we were using previously.

Other things we like:

Design, material and build quality are all almost unbelievably high, and the user interface is refreshingly minimalistic.

For anyone who has extremely high standards in the quality of music, the M3 should be more than satisfactory.Get more detail about NAD - M3 - Master Series - Integrated Amplifier.

Denon AVR-687 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver Review

I bought this a couple months ago to round out Home theater, and for the price, I am very impressed.

As many said though, the manual is rediculous, it took many tries to get things working right, especially seeing I used the surround rear remapped to bi wire my fronts. Once it was set though, amazing results. Just stick with it, and read/understand the whole manual before tweaking anything, reading as you go will doom you to confusion of a whole new level, because they do this thing where certain parts of the setup are not grouped together, and are explained more 10 pages in, maybe mentioning the final info you need 20 pages in. And thats just for speaker setup!! Get more detail about Denon AVR-687 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver.
