Purchase Onkyo TX SR602 - AV receiver - 7.1 channel

I have used this receiver daily for over 2 years and have had nothing but joy from it. I was using Infinity Primus 250 and Primus 160 Speakers, a 300watt JBL Sub and an Infinity Beta Center Speaker. They really shake the house. The wattage may not seem like much, but with a high-current amplifier it sounds like twice as much power. I love this receiver and will continue to buy Onkyo. Lowest Price Audiovox Video Distribution Amplifier (VA100)

This device requires a 12 VDC power source to run and does not come equipped with a working one! It is packaged with a cable with one end that fits into the device and the other end is open wire! I looked and looked on this site and I cannot find ONE PLACE where it says anything about this - or even not coming with a power source. Luckily this is not that big of a deal as you can use any old 12 Volt power supply, but it is definitely irritating that this device requires a part with which it is not supplied. Radio Shack has one for cheaper and it comes with a power source.

It appears as though the device was meant to be used in an SUV or something (for TV monitors), but again it doesn't mention this in the ad.

Otherwise, works great.Get more detail about Audiovox Video Distribution Amplifier (VA100).

Buying Yamaha HTR-5750SL 6.1 Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver (Silver)

I read many reviews of many products before settling on this receiver. I was replacing a 12yr. old JVC. The audio output, features, etc. are as advertised. However, many reviews listed the difficulty of setting the receiver up. Mistakenly, I thought that does not apply to me. WRONG!! It was brutal, not having set something as complex as this up before. Re-arranging Input for the jacks to work, etc. should not be necessary. My biggest complaint is that when you go from Input source to Input source (ex: TV to Tuner), the volume level from the previous one stays the same. My 12 yr. old JVC went to the last volume that that setting had used, not keeping the same one as he one you just left. The problem with this is that different sources require different volume levels, leading to some very loud changes until I can get the Volume down or Muted. This should not be on a quality product such as this.
Yamaha has not responded for 3 days to an inquiry concerning this. Their Tech Support should be better for a new customer.Get more detail about Yamaha HTR-5750SL 6.1 Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver (Silver).

Pioneer VSX-1018AH 7.1-Channel A/V Receiver

This was the reciver of my dreams I had been wanting it for the past year. When I saw It on Amazon for a price I could afford I clicked on the buy now button right away, little did I know that my dream was going to be crushed. I recieved an e-mail for the seller saying that he didn't
want to sell it at the price it was listed because it was worth more and he issued me a credit. So I was really felling down at this time so I stayed away from my computer for a day. When did get back on line to my surprise there was a E-mail frome the seller saying that it was back on sale for the orignal price when I first saw it, plus he was throwing in a free HDMI cable. Well by the time I signed on to Amazon I recieved another E-mail saying that it was sold already and for a moment I thought I was on E-bay not Amazon. This rating is for the seller not the product. Harman Kardon AVR-354 7x75W 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver Review

I had high expectations and was very happy when I received the unit. I also bought the matched set of speakers HKT 18 and the two additional ones for 7.1.

Two problems: I do not play them loud, I like the volume low to average but I still have to turn up the dial to at least 55-65% on the scale in an average size room..even if watching a movie with only talking.

The second problem is I had to return the unit to HK for problems after 4 months. (at a cost of $21 shipping to me) They replaced it with a "reconditioned" unit and now after 10 months the sub-woofer has failed...or is it the reconditioned AV unit...after talking to HK I was took to take it to a service center two hours from here.
