Marantz must have some design or part failure - I have been through four 6004s and one 5004, but one 6004 survives till this day.
my 5004 only lasted a few days. I ran audyssey and ensured that all 8ohm speakers were connected properly and the unit had plenty of room to breathe. The receiver was surge protected with a monster surge protector. On the third day while watching tv, the receiver had the chilling pop and went into protect mode.
Thankfully my dealer was very helpful and gave me a full refund the following day.
I caution you to buy the Marantz SR5004 or Marantz SR6004 comes clean on what's causing the successive deaths of their brand new receivers. Their customer service department denies any failure and insists it was my setup.Get more detail about Marantz SR5004 Audio/video Receiver (Black).
