This receiver was to replace an old Yamaha unit that was in a class above this unit back in the day. However as HDMI and other features have become the standard, it was about time to upgrade. This receiver should rank in the +1000 price range, but I purchased it for much less. It also has THX, Audessey, and 5 HDMI ports. I won't be running out any time soon! For those that haven't used the Audessey feature before, it automatically adjusts the sounds using an internal setup and included microphone. It makes setting up your HT a breeze! However, if you're getting an error from your rear speakers, its because you should be plugging them into the side outlets, instead of rears. You will be highly satisfied with this receiver!!!
